🇲🇾 Country model · LHDN MyInvois — hybrid model

Malaysia e-invoicing: what you need to know.

Malaysia's Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) mandates e-invoicing through the MyInvois platform, phased in by annual taxpayer revenue, combining real-time validation with a continuous transaction control approach.

Mandate timeline

1

Phase 1

Mandatory for the largest taxpayers by annual turnover.

2

Phase 2 & 3

Progressive rollout to mid-sized and smaller taxpayers on a published revenue-threshold schedule.

3

Full adoption

All in-scope taxpayers required to issue e-invoices via MyInvois or an accredited intermediary.

Technical model

Invoices are submitted to MyInvois for validation before or shortly after issuance, receiving a unique identifier and validation link/QR code — conceptually similar to ZATCA's clearance model but with LHDN as the validating authority.

Non-compliance risk

Non-compliant invoices generally cannot be treated as valid tax invoices for input tax claims, with penalties applying to persistent non-issuance once a taxpayer is in scope.

Mandatory data commonly required

  • Buyer & seller Tax Identification Number (TIN)
  • MyInvois validation reference / QR code
  • Structured line-item tax data
